My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Jackson. I was adopted from Second Chance as a puppy from a pretty rough living conditon. Over the year, my family realized that I would do best in a household that is calm and quiet, preferrably with just adults. So here I am back at Second Chance trying again to find the prefect pawrents.  I am very shy and just a tiny bit scared of my own shawdow, why does it keep following me? Anyways, I warm up with time and understanding, I am very smart and know the command sit. I have great manners if I say so myself.

I would do best in a household with no other pets and no children under 13. I can be a bit dog-selective. I will need pawrents who understand that I am shy and busy/loud environments make me very nervous. I will thrive in a stable environment, with a yard of my own. Walks are fine from time to time, but sometimes loud noises, falling leaves, or something out of place, like a repair van, make walks for me a bit stressful. Therefore, a fenced-in yard will be required to adopt me.

I've had all my shots, I've been neutered, and am ready to go home. I also come with a registered microchip and a full set of medical records (one copy for you and one for my new vet).

If you are interested in meeting me, please complete an adoption application online. Upon pre-approval, someone will reach out to set up a time for you to come meet me.

Requirements to adopt me:

More about this rescue

Alison and Nick Yocca started rescuing animals over 8 years ago, starting with their first rescue, Chance; an American bulldog who at the time, was a puppy. As Chance got older, Ali and Nick discovered that the life she had before finding Ali and Nick, must have been rough as she had fear aggression. Realizing that Chance may never be able to find a home and most likely would be put down, they decided to keep her themselves, work with her, and give her a home without fear.

Chance, now 9 years old, lives on a 2-acre property with her mom and dad, and many other rescue siblings. Ali and Nick knew that there must be other animals out there just like chance, who deserve a “chance” at a second life. The sanctuary was born and is now a place where animals that are hard to place can live out their lives in a happy home.

This year, along came Rosy, a look-alike to Chance and the inspiration of the name “Second Chance Animal Rescue and Sanctuary", who again came to Ali and Nick as a puppy, where they realized that she was untrained and probably kept in a cage her whole life, breeding. She now lives out her life at the Second Chance Rescue and Sanctuary where she enjoys her days playing with the other rescues, including both dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits.

Ali and Nick have several rescues of their own, and continue to answer the calls of unwanted, unknown, and left animals in the Central Florida Area. Their team continues to find, care, and place these animals.
