My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Star, an incredibly sweet, friendly and gorgeous German Shepherd.  Without hesitation, she greets everyone who comes to visit.

Star and her male companion were left at a shelter when her people did not have time for her. Two days later she gave birth to 5 adorable "trekkie" puppies. Fast forward two months, and the puppies have been (or are about to be) adopted. Now it's mom's turn to find her new family.

Unfortunately, Star's previous owner neglected important aspects of her health, failing to spay and provide monthly heartworm preventatives. To ensure Star's well-being, ASR is committed to covering all vet costs for her heartworm treatment, spanning three visits over two months. During this period, Star will need restricted activity, with leash walks replacing running or playing for 60 days. ASR will also take care of the spaying procedure once she's released.

This affectionate and resilient dog is seeking a forever home, and ASR encourages you to consider adopting Star. By opening your heart and home to this fantastic dog, you'll not only provide Star with the love and care she deserves but also become a part of her incredible journey towards a brighter future. Adopting Star means embracing a loyal companion and making a positive impact on her life. Will you be the one to give Star the forever home she truly deserves?

More about this rescue

We are a group of German Shepherd lovers who help homeless German Shepherds that are in dire straits and need rescue.

We rescue dogs from kill shelters or other situations where the dogs' life is in danger. We fully vet our dogs and our wonderful fosters care for our dogs until their "forever home" is found!

We are a dating service for dogs, helping potential adopters find the perfect match for their families. We will work with you tirelessly until we find the perfect fit for your family!

We make a lifetime commitment to every dog and every adopter and we are there to answer questions and help with the transition to your home.

Why do we do it? We LOVE dogs , especially German Shepherds, and it breaks our hearts that so many adoptable GSD's never make it out of shelters.

We are an all volunteer group and are always looking for new volunteers to help us in our mission to save dogs!

FOSTERS, we need YOU!!!!

We need fosters to provide a safe haven while a dog is waiting for his/her forever home! If you think you cannot foster because you couldn't let your foster dog leave, talk to us!! While many of us have adopted one or more of our fosters ( we call it Failing Fostering 101 !!!) we can tell you how wonderful it is to see your foster become a beloved addition to a new family.............and opens up a space to save another dog on death row!

If you have any questions at all about fostering please give us a shout and we are happy to answer all questions.

If you cannot foster, we always need volunteers to help host events, do fundraising and PR .

And , of course, we always need donations to pay the vets who keep our dogs healthy and the trainers who help us with doggie manners!

Donations are always welcome and very much appreciated!
