My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

L QJBWE

Hi, I'm Jade! I love meeting new people--neighbors, strangers on walks, and other greyhounds. I love a belly scratch and full body massage. My favorite animals are other greyhounds. I am an active girl and I enjoy long walks with my foster family. I would thrive in a home where I can be taken out for walks throughout the day with a family who can spend a lot of time at home with me. I have a high prey drive so I do best walking with a body harness because I like to pull on the leash trying to chase squirrels and rabbits. I'm not sure about small dogs since I do have a strong prey drive and I get a little anxious and territorial around other medium sized high energy dogs, but I might be okay with them with a slow introduction. And since I like to be boss, I would do best as an only dog or in a home with a medium or bigger dog that is submissive. I'm not a huge fan of my kennel but I do sleep in mine at night but I'd rather not be kenneled during the entire work day. My foster mom says I'm a sweetheart, friendly, social, cuddly, and well behaved and I'm an incredibly easy and loving dog. I can't wait to find my forever home!

More about this rescue

We are the Minnesota chapter of Greyhound Pets of America.

Greyhound Pets of America is a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation founded in 1987 for the purpose of finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds and educating the public on the suitability and availability of greyhounds as pets.

All of our greyhounds go into foster homes where they can acclimate to their new lives as retired racers. We also get a better idea of their personalities so we can make the best possible match with their new family.

We have found great success in matching the personalities of the greyhounds with the personalities of the new families. We test all our greyhounds to see if they can live with small animals and many of our greyhounds go on to live in families with other pets, including cats.

Greyhound Pets of America - Minnesota is run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to the cause of rescuing retired greyhounds. GPA-MN and our volunteers are committed to making sure all our greyhounds have a happy, safe and long life while in our care as well as after they find their forever homes.

If you're planning to get a dog, we hope you will consider adopting one of our retired racers!
