Jade found her way to AAC at the beginning of March. Can we make this the last month she is at the shelter?
The perfect home for Jade will be one with an active owner/family, someone with a secure fenced in backyard so she can get lots of exercise and stimulation, or someone who will be able to take her on frequent walks, or even hikes! At just 1 year old, she has youthful energy and the shelter doesn’t provide her the necessary outlets for a growing and learning girl. Adopting a 1 year old like Jade comes with many benefits, too. You will get to skip those demanding puppy phase months - Jade’s already house trained which is a big win! Still, you will be able to create a lasting bond with her from her younger years, and she is very treat motivated which means there’s ample opportunity for you to mold her into your perfectly mannered pet.
Jade is dog friendly (she actually has a dog roommate here at AAC), so if you have a playful and active dog yourself, Jade may just make the best big sister for them! To ensure compatibility, we will host a doggy meet up with your resident dog and our staff. Jade’s play style with other pups is friendly, and she especially loves dog friends who don’t mind rough housing it too.
Playful, Dog friendly, House Trained, Eager to please - Jade checks all of the boxes that one would want in a pup. Pop into the 200s building to meet this sweet and playful girl.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
