Meet Lexie!

Lexie is amazing - where do we even start with her story....

She came to us after being rescued from a hoarding home that caught on fire. There were over 60 dogs in the house and sadly more than half of them perished in the fire. Lexie survived. When she arrived she was so shut down. We can't imagine the things she has seen and heard. Lexie would not allow anyone to touch her and would cower and shake in fear whenever anyone tried to come close. We have been gently working with her for many months and she has come so far! She is doing wonderfully in her foster home and loves the other dogs there. She plays with them, follows them and of course learns from them. She is coming out of her shell more and more each day.

She likes people but is still wary of fast movements and people she does not know. She has learned that hands don't hurt and that being petted can feel nice. She walks nicely on a leash now but is still quite fearful of unknown situations and things she encounters on the walk. She needs a home with a secure yard as she loves running and playing outside with her dog friends. In the home, she likes to snuggle up on a cozy blanket on the couch.

We hope to find Lexie the perfect family who will love her and continue to work with her. She must have another friendly dog in the home in order to thrive. She is ok with kids but fast movements scare her so older kids is best for her. You'll need some patience to win her trust - she does not always give it easily. When she trusts you, it feels like she is giving you a special gift and it means everything.

Lexie is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $395.
