My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Thackery Binx was surrendered to PRBJ due to his family moving and they were unable to bring him with them.  He was then adopted and returned again after his owner passed away. He went into foster to let him settle and below is what his foster has said about him...

We have had no problems with Binx. Everyone who has met him likes him, he's behaved well, he does normal cat things. He's eating well and uses the litter box. When he needs calm or is anxious he prefers to go under the bed. Loves to sleep in the bathroom sink. He is friendly and affectionate and will play whenever he is approached to play.  He will grab at brushes and combs so we recommend no young children and as he is independent we would like him to go to a home where he is the only cat.  He also knows how to open lever door handles so round door handles are required or locks on doors where he wouldn't be allowed.

Foster Update 2/1/24:
Thackery Binx is a magnificent cat! He is a fabulous companion and wants to be with you, yet he does not require a lot of attention, just your presence. He appears calm, steadfast, and is great company...And then there is Binx at play! He loves, just loves vigorous and exciting play. His favorite is a fishing rod toy whipping around for him to chase. He is fast, agile and strong. Binx is well mannered-he stays off kitchen counters and does not pester anyone eating. He is intelligent and learns quickly. Binx is friendly and affectionate, yet only wants to be in your lap for a couple of minutes. He enjoys petting, then will jump down and remain happily in your presence. He loves to lay on his back but does not like his belly touched. He will grab at brushes/combs, or your hand and 'play bite' so he is not a good match for children. Binx is looking for for someone to enjoy his 'trill' of greeting and share his days for his lifetime. Could that be you?

Go meet their pets

Although many of our pets are cared for at our facility in Sanford, many others are in private foster homes. To arrange a meet, it is best to first complete an online adoption application so that we can set up a meeting. You can access complete information on our pets plus the adoption application on our website, www.petrescuebyjudy.com. Meets and Adoptions are held at our Sanford Adoption Center. Please visit our facebook page, facebook.com/petrescuebyjudy for a full listing of events where PRBJ is represented.

More about this rescue

We are a private, non-profit rescue located in Sanford, Florida, dedicated to the rescue cats and dogs. Many of them come to us with medical needs. They are doctored to the best of our ability and resources.

Our most urgent goal is to rescue animals that are abandoned or in distress, update their vaccines, and find good new homes for them. But we attempt to be more proactive than that. It is our heartfelt desire to prevent any animal from the need to be "rescued." With that vision in mind, we take a three-prong approach through the education of pet owners and the general public about:
- proper care of animals, including correct diet of good quality food, fresh clean water, daily exercise, and lots of love
- spaying and neutering companion animals (dogs and cats) in order to prevent euthanasia and over-population
- low-cost spay/neuter clinics and wellness centers in their local community
