Name, age, type of animal: Charlotte, 1yr, Guinea Pig
Likes: Her sister, Babe! Popcorning. Toys - both store-bought hidey holes and cheap and cheerful homemade items (like paper bags, plain newsprint, boxes and toilet paper roles filled with Timothy Hay for foraging). Talking to and interacting with her humans. A good nap (yawn!).
Dislikes: Turnip, Asparagus
What would be the ideal home? One that recognizes Charlotte is still learning how great humans can be, and finds it rewarding and exciting to help her blossom. Charlotte now willingly accepts pets (especially on her chest or the bottom half of her body), and crawls up onto your lap at snack time, but is not (yet!) ready to be picked up. However, she shows her love and appreciation for you in so many other ways - she purrs lots to let you know you're appreciated, she wheek, wheek, wheeks every time you come close, and she shows her growing confidence by lounging out in the open.
Good with other pets? Has been in the same area as a cat and did well.
Good with children? Unknown, but I suspect yes.
Temperament: Laid-back, independent, social, gentle, playful, curious.
How long will it take to settle into a new environment? A few days.
What kind of housing are they in? X-pen
Favourite types of fruits/veggies? Bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, lettuces, apples, dill, parsley, carrots, all kinds of hay but especially Timothy Hay. Always game to try a new type of food!
Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Charlotte is a loveable goofball! (Sometimes she popcorns so hard that she actually rolls over.) Being with Charlotte and Babe is the loveliest part of every day. It feels so peaceful and happy to sit with them as they crawl up onto your lap for snacks and pets, or even just to spend time hanging out. I actively look forward to our time together each day.
