My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blu, the delightful 4-year-old canine who's 60 pounds of pure love!

Blu is house-trained, knows essential commands, and excels on a leash and in the car. His charming demeanor extends to playtime, where he showcases his fondness for squeaky toys, chew bones, and spirited tug-of-war matches. Blu is a rarity, rarely barking but occasionally expressing excitement with adorable "talks." This trainable pup eagerly works for treats, making him a joy to teach new tricks. Blu's adaptability shines through as he's equally happy to chill or engage in play. Bring Blu into your life, and experience the perfect blend of love and flexibility!

From his foster in SC: "Blu will be very hard to part with. I have watched him since he came in with two other dogs, all had been tied to dog houses and starved. Blu never barks. He just looks at us for approval. He is gentle and sweet, he has learned that there will always be food and he doesn't have to sleep over it. He really, really appreciates a blanket. He will lay on it and go right to sleep. Toys, he doesn't really understand. He walks beautifully and has never had an accident inside. He is charming and kind, he looks like a polar bear. When I first started kissing his forehead it startled him, now he leans in. Please love him as I do."

Blu comes to us from a shelter in SC and is fully vetted and here at The Hotel. **Breeds are best guess.**

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue! Adoption literally saves lives. When you adopt from our rescue, you enable us to pull another dog from a shelter, which saves the life of another dog and creates more space at the shelter so that new dogs can be kept longer.

The first step is to submit our online application. Please make sure it’s complete : )

If the application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet any dogs in your area that you may be interested in and that fit your requirements.
Once you have decided to adopt a dog, you will need to complete the adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee. The adoption fee helps us to recover a portion of the expenses we routinely incur in rescue (boarding, vaccinations, worming, spay/neuter if age appropriate, and transport) so that we can continue to save other dogs. Please see our adoption agreement for further information on this process.

More about this shelter

The Hotel is an animal care facility and adoption center located in Cumberland, Rhode Island. In addition to our facility, we have foster homes located throughout New England. We are a group of dedicated animal lovers who rescue animals from euthanasia at overcrowded county shelters and pounds, as well as abandoned animals, litters found in fields, inhumane situations and other homeless animals in need. Our goal is to care for these rescues until they find their forever homes.

We are also committed to educating the public about responsible pet care. The animals in our care are fully vetted and spayed or neutered. They are treated regardless of age, breed, or medical cost. The Hotel receives no state funding or government assistance. We survive by the donations of caring people, fund raising and adoption fees.
