My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Violet is a sweet, gentle girl who was living outside and found a caring person to feed her and get her into rescue. We got her in the nick of time before the cold weather and she was happy to be warm and dry. She is estimated around 2 years old, fixed and fully vetted. We don't know her background, but we know she warms up easily to people she trusts, just a little bit of kindness and coaxing goes a long way with her. She likes people and enjoys being pet. She is affectionate and will hang around for petting for as long as you will, purring and rubbing her face in your hand. She will make a great companion for someone who likes to relax and chill. Not sure that she's a lapcat quite yet, but definitely a good couch buddy with the desire to be important in someone's life and have a sense of home. She would do well in a calm, quiet environment. She has been around small dogs and other cats. She cohabitates fine with friendly pets, but seems to remain independent of them. She would also do well as an only cat where she can have the space to settle and gain confidence in herself.
Violet's current foster home is at a pet friendly office that volunteered their space to help a homeless animal. They have a caring staff, 2 nice little dogs that come to work with their mom in the day, and a resident cat. Unexpectedly, the resident cat does not like Violet being there. This causes Violet to hide most of the time. She comes out for people when they are there to give her attention and hangs out with them at their desks while they work. She appreciates their time when they are at work 7 days a week, and is alone at night. They do their best to separate the cats most of the time, but would be ideal if Violet could have a place of her own.
We would like to transfer her to a temporary or permanent home where she can feel secure in her environment and begin to thrive. If you are looking for a cat that needs placement sooner than later, please consider Violet. If you are on the fence about adoption, fostering can be a rewarding experience with a shorter-term commitment.
