Ruby is a very sweet, easygoing dog. She is friendly with adults and has been fine with neighborhood kids who approach her calmly. She's not a fan of chaos and loud noises, so would not be a good fit with younger kids. She has been friendly with the household cat but seems to be a little unsure around other dogs. She hasn't been the biggest fan of other dogs in her personal space, so she'd probably be best as an only dog...but kitty friends seem just fine. Ruby likes to hang out where you are but is not clingy. She just enjoys your presence. She doesn't seem to like crowds so she most likely will not be a party girl who hangs out at breweries with her people. She's much more of a homebody. Her favorite activity is lying around outside enjoying the fresh air. She would love a nice fenced-in yard where she can sunbathe and enjoy nature. Ruby has very good leash manners and rides well in the car; though the vet did tell us that she has early signs of arthritis so Ruby is more of a short walk kind of girl and might need help getting into larger vehicles. She will get excited to see you and do a little happy dance but then slows back down to her normal low activity. Mama Bear is heartworm-positive. She has started the first stage of treatment and the cost will be covered by the rescue as she goes through her treatment. She is house-trained, rides well in a car, and walks well on a leash. If you are looking for a sweet, easygoing dog, Mama Bear may be just the dog for you!
