Do you like kitty hugs?? Then meet Mr. Jack Frost! This affectionate guy is the opposite of shy. He puts his paws on your shoulders and rubs his big head all over your chin and cheeks to say hello (“head hugs”). He’s great with kids and loves being picked up and carried around. After chasing some balls, he’ll curl up in your lap and chill. He’s done well around dogs, and isn’t interested in the foster home guinea pigs (a good thing!) Backstory: Jack Frost was found outside in the cold in December with another cat who sadly didn’t make it. His elderly rescuer couldn’t keep him but knew such a friendly, loving cat deserved a good home. Can you give this affectionate boy a forever home in exchange for free head hugs and purrs of appreciation? Jack is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His FIV test was positive. *WHAT IS FIV? Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common and infectious diseases of cats around the world. In infected cats, FIV attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to infections. Although cats infected with FIV may appear normal for years, they eventually suffer from immune deficiency, which allows normally harmless bacteria or viruses found in the everyday environment to potentially cause severe illnesses. Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans, as long as they are not also infected with feline leukemia virus. While FIV is contagious, cats typically do not transmit the virus by sharing an eating bowl with other cats or through other feline contact actions like: Social grooming, sneezing, and sharing.
