My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are looking for a very special family for a very special dog, Doughboy (DB), an absolute kennel favorite. DB obtained an injury to his right hip, and through neglect from his past owners, he wasn't treated which caused years of immobility and pain. Thanks to Animal Friends, he was able to have a much needed surgery to improve his quality of life! Doughboy's recovery has been nothing short of a miracle. He's looking for a family who will give him a second chance at life: running , playing, walking, and all things dog; things he wasn't able to do for so long.

Here are some facts about DB from being in foster care:

- 8 year old, Male
- 70lb ( he needs to get to 55-60lbs)
- Doughboy is his real name and he knows it well
- Submissive, calm, chill, very pleasant dog
- Co-exist very well with other dogs. ( NO cats!)
- Knows sit, come, stay
- Loves being outside
- Loves to sleep- perfect land hippo??
- Will chase ducks but no response to birds. Haven't seen him around squirrels
- Rides very well in the car
- Loves ALL people; he's great with kids
- He would be the dog to bring to an outdoor bar
- Fully potty trained
- DB is a perfect house guest so no chewing up household items. He is trustworthy to be left alone when owners are gone
- Treat motivated
- Doesn't get on furniture and sleeps in a dog bed or crate at night
- Low energy dog
- Not really into stuffies or bones
- Very obedient to correction
- Easy to bathe and didn't flinch for his nail trimming
- UTD on vaccines, on heartworm/ flea and tick.
- Neutered
- Microchipped

Doughboy is still recovering/ healing from surgery so he's looking for a family who will walk him to help build muscle in his right hind leg and who will help him loose weight. The vet was extremely happy with his progress to date!

Doughboy is a charmer and would love to have a family to call his own. He has so much life left in him and can live it out since having his surgery. There's nothing you won't love about Doughboy. He's a very happy hippo. Will you be his furever family?

If interested in knowing more, please fill out an application at Animal Friends Humane Society https://www.animalfriendshs.org/adopt/ then call animal friends to set up a meet and greet.

Doughboy is in foster care so can talk to the foster family to get any questions answered. They know a lot about him.
