Meet Skylar!

Skylar was found wondering around the metro station in Taipei city. One Good samaritan saw Skylar on her way home and started feeding her food and Skylar reciprocated with friendly tail wagging and kisses for the next several days. The Good Samaritan was unable to take Skylar in but she reached out to a rescuer to place her a foster home and to get her adopted. Skylar thrived at her foster home and was able to quickly acclimated to the new environment. She was fostered with two handicapped dog siblings and enjoyed her daily adventures to local markets, coffee shops and parks.

Skylar then was adopted by a family with two cats in the Bay Area about two months ago. They have been working with her on acclimating to her new life but Skylar is very curious with the cats and the family is not comfortable to let her and the cats to stay in the same space. To make things worse, Skylar developed leash reactivity and gets excited and whining when she sees dogs from afar and barks and lunges at them when they get too close. She first lunges at other dogs and then at people despite the online training class the family has put in place for the last several weeks. And most recently, Skylar has bit a stranger on her walk, although it did not incur a serious injury but it has become too much for the family to handle and looking to rehome her.

Skylar is very food motivated, quick to learn new commands and affectionate to her handlers. She is looking for a family who is experienced with dogs and is able to provide stability, patience and consistency she needs to revert the behavior issues she developed. She is currently located in San Jose and is open to meet and greet for her forever home.
