Foster Home Feedback

***  Hopscotch would do best with a playful dog buddy that can match her energy and help her to feel more comfortable in a home

*** Any children should be older and/or considerate due to risks of getting knocked over during play

2/4/24 Foster Feedback: Are you prepared for the boundless energy and unwavering loyalty of a true working companion? Look no further than Hopscotch, a spirited and intelligent female Border Collie mix on the lookout for a forever home. With her striking black and white coat and a work ethic that defines her breed, Hopscotch is ready to join a family with an understanding of the unique needs of working dogs.

About Hopscotch: Hopscotch, a 1-year-old Border Collie mix, is a dynamo of activity and intelligence. This working girl is not just a pet; she's a partner ready to contribute her skills and loyalty to the right match. Hopscotch thrives on activity and requires regular physical and mental stimulation to stay happy and balanced. Whether it's herding, agility, or engaging in tasks that provide a sense of purpose, Hopscotch is at her best when she's working alongside her human companions. She is exceptionally intelligent, showcasing the problem-solving skills inherent in her breed. She excels in obedience training and has a keen understanding of commands. A home with a strong background in working dog training and activities is crucial to channel her intelligence and drive effectively.

Hopscotch is seeking a forever home with individuals who have a passion for working breeds, particularly Border Collies. Familiarity with their need for mental challenges, structured training, and a job to do is essential to provide Hopscotch with the fulfilling life she craves.

1/10/24 Foster Feedback: Hopscotch is an extremely smart, active dog with tons of personality. She can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but once she decides she likes you, she will bounce all over to get attention from you.

She is already potty trained and crate trained. She will make some noise in the kennel if she can see you, but will settle down after a few minutes. We have started working on clicker training and she caught on so quickly! I've never seen her so focused. She has also very quickly solved all the food puzzles we have given her.

Her favorite things to do are wrestle with our two resident dogs and steal their toys. Hopscotch will occasionally bite the blankets on the couch, but is easily distracted with balls, bones and toys. When she is chewing on a bone, she will lay next to you on the couch or cuddle in the chair.

Additional adoption info

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.

Go meet their pets

We regularly have "Meet the Dogs!" events at the West Fargo PetSmart store. These events will give you the opportunity to meet some of the dogs we have available for adoption and to visit with our volunteers. See our website for schedule dates/times.
