My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*EXPERIENCED ADOPTERS*

Meet Biggie! Biggie is a very special boy who has had a rough past and is looking for an extra special person to enter his life.

***Warning: Biggie’s story does include heartbreaking and graphic descriptions.

In December of 2022 someone called to report a large stray dog. Due to the size of the pup, the organization who received the call sent not one, but two, men to "rescue" him. Both men used large catch poles to simultaneously choke and drag the pup into their transport vehicle. The restraints were so tightly wrapped around his neck that his eyes became bloodshot. Once inside the vehicle, he was brought to a veterinary facility for holding.

While you'd think that's where the horrors ended, it was only the beginning. The room where he was placed after being brought in from the streets is where he sat, isolated and terrified, for over 30 days. A majority of Staff were afraid to handle him due to his size, instead they herded him around with a large bed. Unfortunately, this only scared him more. The only happiness this poor guy had was the occasional "Biggie Bag" from Wendy's that was snuck to him. This lifestyle wasn't sustainable, and that was apparent.

In January of this year, staff reached out to us for help. After hearing this guy's story we couldn't say no. He came to our facility and after feasting on hamburgers and french fries for the past month, the only name that seemed fitting for our man was "Biggie".

Our poor guy had a really rough start. After experiencing so much trauma, Biggie was a very terrified dog. Things such as sudden movements and loud noises really scared him. Slowly, Biggie began trusting a few members of our team. It started with feeding him cheese whiz and treats through a gate and gradually grew to taking him on walks and field trips. We learned Biggie loved ponds and running water. For the first time, we got to see him relax and truly enjoy being a dog.

Over the past month, the progress we have seen is nothing short of remarkable. Biggie is comfortable with the majority of our team and even a few volunteers. He is playing with stuffies, rolling over for belly rubs, and even giving kisses! He really is our miracle boy.

Now, almost 9 months after he was found alone and abandoned, we are proud to announce Biggie is available for adoption. Due to his size and background, he will need an experienced adopter without young children. Biggie has done well with other dogs, although they would need to be introduced during this process. We know this sounds intimidating, but after months with Biggie Boy, we think he is going to make an amazing dog. He just needs to find his place. If you would like to have a meet with our special boy, please contact us.
