Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Step into the enchanting world of Ivy – a radiant gem among shelter pups, graced with an irrepressible spirit and an abundance of sweetness. This house trained pup brings many wonderful qualities to the table. She has experience being left alone for 4-8 hours at a time. Her vocabulary of trained commands has sit, stay, and come (ready to learn more). She has a curiosity for the outdoors and lets her nose take the lead on all walks. She prefers leisurely strolls to discover her interests in the neighborhood.
She seeks harmony in her interactions, valuing quality over quantity in her furry friendships. In playgroups we saw that she prefers to be by her humans and sometimes go out to chase / play with other pups she’s warmed up to. Ivy prefers to be present, gracefully navigating social dynamics while cherishing her interactions with a select few.
Ivy`s heart dances between two great loves – the thrill of chasing a ball (with a bit of a work-in-progress return policy) and the irresistible allure of chicken treats. Her nose, as sharp as her wit, can distinguish between imitation and the real deal, with a special fondness for anything involving the delectable aroma of cooked chicken.
A Heart Full of Love: Ivy is more than a dog; she`s ready to bring warmth and comfort into your life, full of laughter and boundless joy. She has a gorgeous coat of fur and a million dollar smile. If you believe you can give her the stable, consistent and trusting home she deserves, we hope that you will come into Austin Animal Center to meet her!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
