Breed: Mini/French lop
Size: About 6-7 lbs
DOB: About 1 1/2 to two years old as of January 2024
Reason in rescue: Chestnut and Mocha were dumped off at a local
Petco. Chestnut was in the worst shape, luckily other than some super long nails, Mocha was ok! We are very thankful the employees there got a hold of us and we were able to take them.
Personality: Apparently these two girls had been living in someone’s garage, not getting properly cared for. Chestnut was so overweight her rear end was so filthy as she couldn’t even clean herself. We attempted to spay her when she first got to us but she wasn’t healthy enough and was having issues with the anesthesia so we waited a few weeks while she got healthier. On just a normal rabbit diet she is now down to a healthy weight and can clean her rear. Chestnut is a sweet girl still getting used to the idea that humans are ok. She lets you pet her now (she was very sensitive on her neck as she had mite/flea bites all over her back when she first came to us, now gone). Picking up she gets very nervous as she’s a larger bunny so best bet is petting her on the floor so she is most comfortable. She absolutely LOVES sprawling out fully stretched out for naps (we think she was kept in a very small cage). She’s very good with her litter box.
Friends: She is a good candidate to be bonded to a neutered male.
Requirements: Must be adopted as an indoor animal, with an as large as possible plastic bottomed cage or puppy pen (minimum 4' x 2' for a single, 4 x 4 for a pair). Adoption process: An adoption application must be filled out (http://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html), and approved by us. Then we will arrange a meeting time to see the animal of interest. A home visit is required prior to adoption (but can be waived if pictures or video are supplied of where the bunny will be living). Suggested adoption donation is $100 which includes her spay, vaccine, and microchip.
