My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Yogi!

Last October, we rescued Yogi from Baldwin Park Shelter, where he had been brought as a stray. He is 12 years old, weighs 16 lbs., and is a fun and quirky little guy. With more than 6 months of waiting for a family, Yogi has been at Frosted Faces Foundation longer than any other little dog. Might you be the understanding forever family Yogi needs?

To help us find the right match for Yogi, one of our volunteers took him on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what he is like in a home setting. Here's what she shared with us about their time together:

"Yogi is ready for a forever home. A little patience pays off. He is a sweet dog who really wants loving. He likes attention after he learns to trust you.

Yogi ate Turkey Stew Hill's canned food and boiled chicken. Because he has no teeth, he uses his gums and floppy tongue, so he needs a bigger bowl. Yogi is a foodie and put on some needed weight during our Fling. He got so excited as l prepared his dinner that he started dancing around the kitchen!

Yogi loves going outside. I've come to find out he is potty trained. As long as he goes outside every few hours, he is okay. He walks to the door but does not vocally alert you that he needs to go.

Yogi seems to get along with any animal he has contact with. He got along perfectly well with my mini Schnauzer and even wagged his tail when my cat came up to him. His hearing and sight is somewhat limited, but he knows where his bed is and even puts himself in his soft enclosure at night. Yogi doesn't have separation anxiety while I'm gone.

Yogi sleeps a lot and wants to be in whatever room the humans are in. He would do great in a home with another chill dog. Can you resist the Yogi look? He is ready for a forever home. "

Shortly after returning from his Fling, Yogi went to live in a Foster home while he waits for a forever family of his own. We received a great first report from his Foster Mom:

"Yogi has been doing GREAT in my home as a foster. He has settled in nicely, gets along great with my dog as well as around other dogs and cats we've visited. He still is a little reactive when being touched around his neck and head (perhaps from prior trauma and being a stray?) and being picked up, but he is getting more used to me and comfortable around me so it's getting easier. He just needs time and patience.

Yogi is the sweetest boy. He sleeps and eats alot. He started doing zoomies when I get home from work now, too. This makes me soooo happy!"
