Animals story: (where found and reason for wanting to rehome): It breaks my heart but I am relocating and circumstances will not allow for me to take them with me. I need this relocation for several reasons- family, financial, and work. Chosen (gray tabby American short hair) was adopted from the Sheriff's animal shelter in Melbourne, FL. She was approximately 3-4 months when rescued from a dog killing her a group of kittens she was with. I've had her since January 2023, I estimate her birthday was in October 2022
Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): Chosen’s birthday est. October 2022. Weighs 7#. Loves high perches, enjoys the screened lanai. Indoor cat only. Sweet & sassy flirt. She's independent. She is shy w/me because she connected w/my other cat first. Without my other cat around my vet says she will warm up faster to you. Still, she sleeps in bed w/me, sometimes on my legs, always close by & human curious. She likes ear & neck rubs, chin scratches, gives gentle warnings when she's had enough. Favorite toys are the little red stuffed toy w/the green tunnel in one of the pics. Loves the fishing rod toy, too.
Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): She comes w/her favorite cat tower, a litter box cabinet, her toys, carrier & more. All vet records provided. Finding the right home for Chosen is very important to me; you need to be patient, gentle, loving and patient; she needs a few months to fully warm up. My goal is to make this as stress-free a transition as possible for her. Will pay for 1st physical w/vet. I will discuss with you additional help with the transition that I’m willing to provide.

What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): She eats Purina Indoor Hairball kibble and Sheba wet food. Chosen only loves one treat: Fancy Feast Savory Cravings. She enjoys catnip and fresh from the pot cat grass. She is used to kibble being out 24/7 but loves her wet food too, not too finicky with that.
****i have learned from this rescue that “free feeding” dry food or leaving out as much as she wants, isn’t the best. Cats need a certain amount of wet food a day and some will fill up on the overly processed dry junk and not finish dinner (wet food). So please make sure she gets plenty of wet food every day and more info below. This way you save on vet bills and kitty has less medical issues.
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.

Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
