My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In late December, three young pups were abandoned at a church in Oliver Springs. They found shelter under a nearby house of an elderly couple who cared enough to feed them and who reached out to AC ARF for help. Thanks to collaborative efforts, these pups have gained weight, but are still timid and need to be in a home where they can build social skills and reach their full potential. We call them Frankie, Cole and Bennett after the legendary musicians. AC ARF is looking for fosters to help get these pups out of the cold and learn how to live with love and a warm bed. Please message us or call Katrina at (865) 414-2491 if you can help! All medical expenses, including neuter, will be covered by AC ARF.

Here is their story. These pups surely know what side their toast is buttered on, and it didn’t take them long to learn that a covered shelter with food and water was a much safer place to live, and moved into a pen the couple created for them on their own accord! With reliable food, water, shelter and bedding they are already feeling so much better than when they arrived cold, wet, starving and homeless. They have already begun to build confidence in visitors to their new world…especially when there are yummy treats involved! They came into rescue as timid and shy in the company of strangers, and we have learned they are each very sweet boys that will win over hearts in no time at all. Once in a home environment, we know these babies will flourish!

What better way to start off 2024 than to help save a life! Read on to learn about this particular dog.

Frankie appears to be a Husky/Aussie mix, dogs that offer security, boundless energy, intelligence and known to be highly trainable. Husky/Aussies are explorers and need access to outdoor spaces and exercise (physical and mental). They make great family dogs, need plenty of affection (something these pups have never been exposed to) and may appear as distant when it comes to strangers. So Frankie and his buddies are being exposed to new people and other dogs as quickly as possible. Frankie is already ‘warming’ up to his new life of being cared for.

Frankie is ‘Ole Blue Eyes’ in this trio. As you can see in his photo, Frankie’s greatest weapon is how he gazes at you with those deep blue eyes. We not sure sure anyone could be impervious to this guy’s charm.

Frankie is just beginning to learn he can trust people, and is a relatively confident dog. Perhaps this is why he has decided he will be the present leader of the realm, and his two litter mates listen and respect him. Nature has a way of sorting things out, and especially with Husky/Aussies. They continue to sleep all bundled together for warmth and comfort. Smart pups considering they have probably had zero guidance, let alone love.

And that is where foster or foster-to-adopt families are needed to help provide affection, stability and belonging. We all want Frankie and his siblings to learn that life isn’t just about surviving. It’s about flourishing. Like his namesake, Frankie knows the best is yet to come. The family that found Frankie sheltering under their house with his siblings think so too! And so do we!

Join us if you can to help them transition to happy, healthy dogs with a home and family of their own. Please message us or call Katrina at (865) 414-2491 if you can help!
