My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**This bunny is fully vaccinated for RHDV*
Breed: Some sort of American type mix
Size: About 5 lbs
DOB: About 1-2 years old as of January 2024
Reason in rescue: we took in a group of buns that had been sitting at a shelter in WV. They were labeled as males but were all girls and had never seen a vet or been spayed or vaccinated. Merry had been there about three months and was found as a stray. We knew we had to rescue them.
Personality: The minute I got Merry on the transport from WV I knew something was wrong. Her back legs were not working normally and her eye was missing (which we had been told about). She walked with her legs stretched out behind her and hopped oddly. We got her into our vet for X-rays and were flabbergasted. At some time, probably before she got picked up as a stray, her back had been broken down by her hips. Amazingly her back was healed but it was causing her to walk differently. She had sat at the shelter in WV this whole time like that with no vet care :/ The vet thinks she can live a long, normal life, just with a little hitch to her step. We believe she was either attacked by something while she was outside as a stray or even hit by a car. When she went in for her spay, we had her empty eye cleaned out and stitched closed so it doesn’t bother her. Despite everything she has been through, Merry is the absolute best girl. She loves people and attention (but because she is missing an eye you have to make sure she knows you’re there as she’ll jump if she can’t see you). She doesn’t mind being picked up and loves to get head rubs and scratches. She loves stretching out as long as she can for naps. She’s, amazingly with her condition, very good with her litter box!
Friends: She is a good candidate to be bonded to a neutered male.
Requirements: Must be adopted as an indoor animal, with an as large as possible plastic bottomed cage or puppy pen (minimum 4' x 2' for a single, 4 x 4 for a pair). Adoption process: An adoption application must be filled out (http://www.judgespark.org/adoption-application.html), and approved by us. Then we will arrange a meeting time to see the animal of interest. A home visit is required prior to adoption (but can be waived if pictures or video are supplied of where the bunny will be living). Suggested adoption donation is $100 which includes her spay, vaccine, and microchip.
