My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lilah! Lilah is approx.., 18 months old, 65 pounds, and a totally timid sweetheart. She was discovered near a church on her own, thin, appeared to have had babies in the past, and left or abandoned. She came to us very scared of humans, and loud noises, and like Houdini, she can get out of fenced-in areas undesired when she is frightened. She is a gentle soul who will require a gentle hand until she gets used to you for comfort and reassurance. Once she knows you after a short week of consistency, conversation, and gentle touches to her ears and head a wagging tail will soon appear. She tends to be more frightened by men than females, but since with her foster family, she has gotten better. A loving companion dog in every sense of the word, that deserves every effort made because she will become the perfect dog with confidence building and a loving home. What a fantastic temperament she has! She would do best in a quiet environment that is willing to allow her to lay near you, walk on a leash, and accompany you in whatever you wish to do. I think she could be fine around children, but with her fear level best to go to an adult home where she can learn to live around humans without fear. She likes a crate and getting in one just as a sanctuary at first, and no accidents to speak of at all. Thus far it's been pretty simple inside most of the day, walked on a leash, and outdoors supervised. She would require a privacy fenced-in yard or walked. Over time she will be more comfortable and confident, but this beautiful gal will need a true advocate who has patience and understanding. To adopt Lilah please go to our website to complete the online pre-adoption application https://www.southernskiesrescue.org/adoption-application Lilah has been fully medically vetted; spayed, up to date on all vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and placed on prevention plus microchipped.
