We named this girl Angel, but now she needs one.
Who knows what this little girl has been through. The angels definitely watched over her as she burrowed up in leaves at a cemetery in rural Arkansas over Christmas, trying to survive by herself in the winter cold. A Good Samaritan brought her to our friends who brought her straight to the vet’s to be checked out.

And what we found out was that life hasn’t been very good to little Angel. Though she has made it to the age of 7 or 8, it’s been by the grace of God, rather than by human care. She was skin and bones, heartworm positive, and the vets discovered that her little leg has an old injury consistent with having been kicked pretty hard at some point in her life. Who on earth could do that to a dog this tiny and this sweet?? The vet says Angel is exhausted and needs rest and nutrition before starting heartworm treatment. She’s in a foster in Arkansas, and we’re happy to report that you can hardly see her backbone any more, now that she’s eating regularly and putting on weight.

But she needs an angel who will take her under their wing forever. Someone who will take her in so that she can go through heartworm treatment from the comfort of her own home. Someone who sees in her what we do: a loving girl who has been through living hell and unspeakable neglect, and yet still loves people. A girl who has clearly been pushed away by someone, yet whose favorite place to sit is in anyone’s warm lap. A girl who deserves to get healthy and, for the second half of her life, experience what a loving home feels like.

Angel is about 7 - 8 years old, she weighs about 6 pounds, and she would love nothing more than a warm lap from which to look adoringly at someone, with those big brown eyes of hers. She is being fostered with other dogs and she’s totally fine. She’s smaller than most cats, so we think she’d be fine with them, too. She’s great with all people, but because of her size and fragility, we prefer a home with no young children. We’re not asking an adoption fee. We’re just asking for a happily ever after for Angel. If you're her angel, please visit www.pinkshelter.org for more information about the adoption process or click here for our online application. Transport fee is additional $145.
