Nelly came into the care of HSHPE as a stray that was not claimed. She is a sweet, calm girl who prefers to spend her days lounging and napping. Due to her size, Nelly does sometimes need help keeping her back end clean. She will require frequent brushing as well. Nelly has gone into foster care to have some more space and work on losing some weight, here are some notes from her foster mom: "Nelly is the best sidekick. She is never really far and wants to be wherever you are, whatever you are doing. She loves to play with yarn when I crochet, so I gave her her own ball. She will get in bed with you early in the morning and will quietly wait for you to get up to feed her. She loves being petted but has her boundaries and will let you know when she's had enough by vocalizing it. Overall, best cuddle bug and sidekick!" Nelly does not enjoy the company of other cats and would prefer to be the queen of her castle. She has not been tested with dogs but this can be arranged with an approved application. Nelly would do best in a calm household with children 10+.

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.
