My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shams, an angelic little beauty whose name means “Sun” in Arabic! Just like the sun, Shams lights up every room she walks into with her warm, gentle personality.

She was rescued by a Virginia Beach resident working as a contractor in Jordan as part of his efforts to save some of the many, many street cats of Amman. As his time working there winds down, he’s desperately seeking loving permanent homes for them in the US - how cool would it be to add one of these babies to your family? Not everyone has a Jordanian cat, after all!

Shams was found at a very young age on the side of the road in a very sad state due to a severe respiratory infection.  It was touch and go for a while but with the love and support of her rescuer she managed to overcome her illness and blossom into a wonderful little cat.  She seems to understand how bad she had it before she was rescued and goes out of her way to shower her foster dad with attention.  He often jokes that her mother didn’t teach her how to stop purring because Sham’s little motor will run for hours while sitting on his lap!

Despite being one of the youngest cats at her foster home, Shams cares for her foster siblings like a mother hen.  She will happily groom them until they are purrfectly clean.  The only thing that she likes more is sitting on her foster person’s lap while getting pets!  She has the cutest meow that is a clear sign when she wants to be picked up and petted even more.

Shams would be a wonderful addition to any family looking for a champion lapcat.  She does have a special boyfriend named Luke that is also being fostered by Billy the Kidden Rescue.  They have been fostered together since they were kittens and have that special brother/sister relationship that is so adorable.  Please consider adopting them both so they can spend their lives together in a furever home!

Shams is up to date on all of her vaccines, deworming, flea/tick treatment, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative. At this point she is estimated to be about 8 or 9 months old.
