Cat’s vetting history (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped): Neutered, Vaccinated and chipped
Animals story: (were found and reason for wanting to rehome): I rescued him from the humane society. He was abused from his previous home and has problems with people due to it. I have JUST LEARNED the home he needs to thrive in. He needs to be the only cat in a more quiet environment. More on this below.
Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes):
He is very shy and skittish. He doesn’t like to be touched and he hasn’t been use to this. He has been using another cat in the home as a security blanket so has not been seeking human interaction. . He does love to play and look out the window. THIS IS why he needs a different environment where he will thrive! I do have a short video I could send you also
*********please know this (written by Tonja with furry nation salvation) ******** in next home -he would thrive more being the ONLY CAT. Starting him off in a bathroom (no hiding spots) is best to begin establishing what normal human/pet interactions are. (Holding daily, petting daily, feeding treats by hand.).
Keeping him inside this SMALL space for weeks and weeks is what he needs ! He needs to learn what the new normal is (petting daily).
??? IS HE SEEKING human interaction or coming out to you when you walk in the bathroom? Then at this time you can think about giving more space.
AGAIN -CONSISTENCY IS KEY FOR SKITTISH OR SHY CATS. Establish a new normal for this cat is exactly what he needs (I’ve had a ton of experience in this department)
What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): Eats both wet and dry food . Also learned how important it is to LIMIT the crappy dry food and give more wet food daily. This way the cat avoids so many medical issues and vet bills . Read more below.
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).
