My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here:
https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 12/1/20

Personality: Chatty, Curious, Friendly toward humans, Inquisitive, Nervous

Favorite treats: Likes hay-based treats and most fresh veggies and fruits

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food, Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food, Fruit, Veggies, Leafy Greens, Western Timothy Hay

Favorite toys and activities: Hot Sauce loves to sleep in a big pile of hay, and enjoys pushing around a treat ball

Potty trained: No

This animal’s daily routine: The typical routine is pellets right away in the morning, then attention, free-roam time and veggies in the evening.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Hot Sauce and Guacamole are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: None

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None

Health concerns: Hot Sauce has a cataract in his left eye, and some surface level spots on both eyes, so his vision is limited. These things do not cause him discomfort, and he gets around pretty well despite having less-than-ideal vision.

Due to his reduce vision, Hot Sauce is sometimes easily startled. I like to rub my fingers together in front of him so he can tell that I am near him without scaring him. He is a sweet little guy, and the loudest wheeker I have ever met! His bonded cage mate, Guacamole, sometimes picks on him by stealing his treats (often right out of his mouth) or pushing him out of a shared food bowl. Using two separate food bowls helps with this a lot.

Behavioral concerns: None

Hot Sauce & Guacamole came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to provide attention.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 1297 Promenade Pl #2a, Eagan, MN 55121 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Hot Sauce & Guacamole have a combined adoption fee of $60

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Hot Sauce's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Hot Sauce or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
