Wally was brought into our partner shelter covered in cracked skin, with sores and growths, and initially 85% of his fur missing, this was neglect. While we don’t know how long Wally had been this way, we do know that someone decided he was better off at a shelter, or as ‘not their problem’ when his skin condition continued to worsen. When we saw the sadness in Wally’s eyes, we knew we had to get him out. Though it took additional time to get him cleared for transport, the incredible staff at our Kentucky partner shelter started Wally on treatment and gave him the chance he deserves before his freedom ride- because of our commitment to his rescue. Wally is now in a nurturing foster home. His foster mom shared that he is an angel, a 5-year-old gentle giant who loves nothing more than being around people. He is excellent with potty training and enjoys hanging out in his crate. Our team was able to give Wally the promise of a better future, to commit to getting him treated so he could beat the odds and heal, and now to find a home. His mange is being treated by medicated baths and Cefalexin designed to fight off the parasite causing the skin infection, and his hair has already started to grow in so nicely. Fingers crossed, the next step in his journey will be the forever home he deserves! Wally is up to date on vaccines and was previously neutred. He is the sweetest guy!
