*** Please watch my video! Love, Lucky ***andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Hello there, my name is Lucky. My friends and foster family say that I have the perfect name for such a perfect boy.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;My story began a long time ago, when my previous owner passed away. Instead of finding a nice shelter for me, I was cast out onto the streets and forced to fend for myself for SEVEN YEARS. In August 2023, a few kind people at Great Plains SPCA recognized my potential and brought me to their shelter. Now Iandamp;#39;m living it up in a foster home!andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Due to my past, Iandamp;#39;ve learned to be aloof in order to protect myself from people who have done me harm. I may be shy when we first meet because Iandamp;#39;m not sure if youandamp;#39;re one of the people I can trust. But with a little patience, it wonandamp;#39;t be long before I give you all my love. When Iandamp;#39;m ready to form that bond, Iandamp;#39;ll lean right into your hand for pets.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;In my foster home, I am extremely calm and love to follow my foster mom and her dog around. I am housetrained but tend to graze on my food throughout the day, so I may ask to go out a couple times a day. I appreciate the calmer things in life, and my favorite activity is sunbathing in the backyard so I can watch the world go by.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Will you care for me during my golden years?andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Kisses andamp; Wagsandlt;br/andgt;Lucky

Please note that we operate by first come, first serve along with adoption approval. Wait times may vary depending on the time of week and day.
We are reserving Mondays and Tuesdays for appointments for members of the public who are immunocompromised or are still uncomfortable being in large crowds due to COVID-19.
If you have any questions about our adoptable pets, please call (913) 831-7722 or email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org. Our expert matchmakers look forward to finding you the perfect furry family member!
Adoption Requirements:
- Adopter must be 18 years of age or older.
- Adopters must complete a survey and present photo identification to meet any of our animals.
- For the safety and health of our animals, we do not ship pets.
- Pet adoption fees range from $60 to $350. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals needing our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. The adoption fee for each animal varies and is dependent on many factors including: age, size, behavior, medical condition, and public demand.
