My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nella was a stray that CACC picked up. She seems pretty healthy and even has a few tricks someone taught her, and she is now living the dream in her foster home. Nella is a gorgeous and petite tri color pittie mix. She has the cutest brown eyebrows. She almost looks like a Rottweiler in a "x-small"! Nella has a sassy personality, with a killer smirk, and side eye that only a 100% purebred diva could give!

Nella is a curious girl that is figuring out what a good life is. She enjoys the outdoors and car rides.
Nella is working on her puppy behavior, but she is a quick learner and treat motivated! She has the cutest paws that she offers for belly rubs and snacks, and apologies for when she's naughty. Nella would be a great partner for a playful dog that needs someone to wear them out. She loves the resident dogs of her foster home and would play with them until she passes out. She is medium-high energy. She likes to play but will settle in for some snuggles and belly rubs. Nella is very curious of all animals but has no animosity or prey drive, she's met chickens and goats and has done great! Because she is so curious and has a decent amount of puppy energy, we would recommend a home with older kids for now. She has a lot of puppy behavior to still work on. She likes to jump up and is still quite mouthy, but she is learning!

Nella's favorite trick is paw. She gives paw a little smirk for everything, and is crate trained! If we had to describe Nella, they would be: playful, curious, and talkative! More about this rescue

Players for Pits is a 501c3, non profit rescue that connects professional athletes to the community in order to come together to take a stand against the abuse and neglect of animals. PFP serves the western suburbs of Chicago and is a foster based rescue, so the dogs in our care are in foster homes learning the basics of being a well balanced dog versus being in cages at loud boarding facilities.

The athletes involved in our rescue actively support the rescue efforts and help by spreading the word of dogs in need. It is the mission of Players for Pits to educate dog owners about proper pet care - both physical and mental - so that the dogs in our care can be happy, well balanced members of society. It is our goal to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them into loving homes in the suburbs. At Players for Pits we stand up for pit bulls, who's character is routinely tarnished and often misrepresented. We recognize the pit bull for what it is: a DOG. And any dog with the right care and owners can be a wonderful pet. While we are an advocate for pit bulls, we do not discriminate based on breed and will take in other breeds if they need you help. Players for Pits is also very active in the community and we co-host clinics to help struggling families maintain their pets health, we train pit bull type dogs to become therapy dogs for children with abusive backgrounds, and we try to involve the community in our goal to reduce pet abandonment.
