Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I am Malibu and I answer to many versions of that, so happy for any attention. I am an
approximately 1.5 yr old street dog who, along with my litter of pups, was rescued from life
outdoors. I was undernourished and was happy to have BEDR volunteers help feed me so that
I could care for my Beach Litter. With my pups now cared for by other foster parents, I have
been gradually letting my foster parents know what a perfect home for me would be. Please
pay close attention as I am anxious to find the perfect match.
Now that I no longer have to scrounge for food, I actually feel comfortable politely grazing. That does not mean that I don’t still try to pour on the charm to gain some human tidbits, but I am proud to have learned some manners. I impressed my foster parents with my manners from the get-go. I like to meet people of all sizes and personalities, so I am calm, gentle and I
know to sit in front of them so they can show me some love. I am pretty quiet, using my
voice sparingly. There are many people and dogs that walk behind my house and I would be
exhausted if I talked to all, so I just talk to the occasional dog.
Speaking of dogs, absolute number one on my wish list for a family: find a home with a dog
that would like to be an enthusiastic playmate. I have played with all sorts of dogs, of all
genders and sizes, and have loved them all. I even know how to change my play tactics for the
little pups. Cats…well I have met some on walks and definitely want to play. Had they run I
might have played chase, but they stood their ground and told me to back off so I did. I’d have to learn how to play with them.
My number two wish, should I not have, or in addition to having any canine buddies to
entertain me, would be a home where my humans do not leave me for any great length of time during the day. I was a street dog with lots of freedom and a strong desire for companionship.
My foster parents note that when kenneled I do not tend to sleep while I wait for them, I do not like to be left alone. In fact, if you were willing and able to take me to work with you, I would wow everyone I meet there with my calm, quiet and gentle demeanor.
I LOVE car rides and walks. My foster parents insist I tell you that while I am patient and calm
inside, when we head out for a walk my goofy rambunctious self comes out (especially if I see
another dog)! I am a very strong 55 lb girl and I need a strong adult hand on the leash, and perhaps some lessons in walking with manners.
Here is where I remind you that an enthusiastic canine sibling would be a blast to play with and release some energy.
Please give strong consideration to my wish 1 or 2, that I constantly be with a canine and/or
human most of my day. Apply for me if you feel you could give me the love and
attention I crave.
