My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi There! My name is Maggie and I am a two year old Boxer mix with the most wiggly butt and nub tail you could possibly imagine. I love my adult and teenage foster humans, but will need a home with kids ages 15+. Little kids are just so cute, but man they make me super nervous so my next home needs to be kiddo free–including visiting grandchildren.

In my spare time, I am an avid TV watcher. My favorite shows are the NatGeo documentaries, Disney movies with animals, Netflix documentaries that feature older people, and the Amazing Race. I was captivated for almost an hour on Thanksgiving watching the National Dog show. I was really rooting for the boxer to win!

My perfect home is one with with a strong routine as that is when I thrive! My day is like clockwork and that makes me super happy. I always know what to expect! I quietly lie on my dog bed with the four resident dogs in my foster humans’ home office during the day. I also love chewing on my Benebone. I get up to use my dog door, then go lie back down. Sometimes I play with my foster brother, then we snuggle together. The older lady dogs in the house don’t really want to play, so I 100% respect them and always leave them alone. When the work day is over, I have my dinner and then later that evening it is time to hang out on the couch and guess what…watch TV!

I am crate trained and housebroken. I also attended a three week board and train with Colorado K9 in Castle Rock where I learned lots of commands and a strong recall skill! I also attended doggie day care there and found my favorite dogs to play with. I love my foster humans and give them love, but I am not needy at all. New people can frighten me some, so I will need a home who is ok with me taking time to get comfortable around new people. My foster mom can tell you exactly how to do that!

I will also need a home with a playful dog companion. I really love one of my foster brothers and look to him for guidance in new situations and new people. And we play all the time!! I’d love a new dog sibling like this. My home will need to be small animal free as I have a high prey drive (cats, squirrels, fox, etc.). Speaking of that drive, my new home will need a six foot fence or shorter fence paired with an invisible fence cause I got hops! I cleared a four foot fence easily in hot pursuit of a squirrel and climbed out of a five foot one to chase deer. But if my new home doesn’t have a yard and we just go on walks and such, that is totally ok too! I walk beautifully on with my harness and love that time with my peeps exploring the neighborhood! Do you hike? I do and would love a family that goes on adventures like that!

I know I have some quirks, but I am a very good girl and low maintenance dog that would love to finally find my forever home.

Maggie is in foster in Castle Rock, Colorado.
