My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This guy has had his world turned upside down in the last month. He was adopted from us as a kitten along with his sister Tiny Dancer and later another kitty Gail also joined them.

Fast forward almost 8 years and Rocket Man and the two girls are back with us, as the family had some changes and a move where they decided they wouldn't be taking them. It's sad and extremely disappointing, but we are happy that they are here with us and that they now have the opportunity to find their forever and ever families.

Rocketman is just a big, sweet love who is perfectly content watching the squirrels and birds from his cat tower, sitting with you as you work or watch TV or just batting a toy mouse around. He is so cute and just a really nice boy. He's about as purrfect as they come!!

He's had his recent Veterinary checkup, and all systems are go!

His wish list is just a calmer couple or person, maybe some empty nesters, someone who works from home, settled in life type of folks who can offer Rocketman all the stability he deserves. Even though Tiny Dancer is his sister, they aren't really bonded, and Gail is more his hangout pal, so if you did want two great middle-aged kitties, Rocketman would not mind if Gail came along. He is also quite independent and will be fine as your one and only or with your kitty or calm pup.

Rocketman has had age-appropriate vetting, is FeLV/FIV negative, microchipped and has been neutered. FREE wellness visit with adoption.

Saving Southern Kitties has the most comprehensive vetting standards for adoption. Please visit our kitties at the Rivergate PetSmart in Charlotte and like and visit Saving Southern Kitties Facebook page for an up-to-date list of adoptable kitties. An application is required.

Additional adoption info

Saving Southern Kitties requires completion of an adoption application, initially. We thoroughly review the application which includes: Veterinary References, Personal References, Home Ownership Verification, Verification of Pet Policy with Landlord for those renting homes and a home visit. Go meet their pets

Some of our kitties are housed at the Adoption Center inside of Petsmart at the Rivergate Shopping Center. The Adoption Center is staffed by Saving Southern Kitties Volunteers, seven days a week. On Saturdays, we hold an adoption fair and kitties that are housed with our foster families come to Petsmart to meet and greet their potential families! Our Petsmart is located at 14137 Rivergate Parkway
Charlotte, North Carolina 28273. We can also arrange for private meet and greet sessions as needed.

More about this rescue

Saving Southern Kitties is a South Carolina rescue devoted to saving cats and kittens from high kill and rural shelters, where euthanasia rates are extremely high. At Saving Southern Kitties, we are making a difference of the lives of cats who have no voice.

At Saving Southern Kitties we focus our efforts on those cats and kittens which are never seen on the adoption floors at these shelters and are labeled "rescue only". Shelters do not usually have space to put all of the cats on the adoption floor and must decide which ones don't make the cut. Usually it's those who aren't super fancy, have a sniffle, or are thing from being a stray for too long. Oftentimes, they are only given a few days to get out by a rescue group or be euthanized. We are their only chance at finding a forever family. We spend the money needed to make them healthy and adoptable. Because of this, our average dollar amount spent per cat is quite high. We aim to keep our adoption prices very reasonable!

Saving Southern Kitties is making a difference for these precious lives, one at a time! MEOW Y'ALL!
