Hi! My name is Danny and I am from Minnesota.

Danny is very smart, eager to please and highly food motivated. He has the basics down pretty well on obedience training, so those things are very good qualities to have! Danny has been in his foster home for a couple of weeks now and is quickly settling into a routine. He is fully potty trained, and sleeps through the night. He seems to be a 'pack dog' through and through, so he doesn't like being alone right now. Danny would probably do best with another dog in the home as he doesn't like to be alone. Also, a fenced in yard would be great, as he loves his outside time.

Danny is truly an adorable pup with lots of energy and who takes immediately to people. He is not crate trained, and we are working on him being comfortable with alone time before we work up to the crate. He also doesn't like being alone right now, since he is so young & learning life. His foster mom thinks he would do really well in a home with another dog and/or in a home where someone is there during the day to offer him personal attention & teach him that alone is ok. Oh, and a fenced in back yard for running & zoomies? He says PLEASE!

Did we say anything about energy? Because this boy has a lot of it! He recently got a short, sweet taste of jogging/running and would very much like that to happen more often. He loves nothing more than to play, and today he got his first Doggy Daycare report card, which included Playful, Exuberant and Rambunctious! He does best with dogs his age and size (who doesn't?) and is learning the fine art of knowing when another dog isn't as playful as him.

When Danny's energy gets really high, it is because he needs something: food, water or maybe a bathroom break. He gives strong verbal and physical cues that could be mistaken for negative energy, so this will be good to keep in mind as you get to know him. In the past few days, he was willing to sit while his foster mom asked what he needed (water? outside?), thinking that 'outside' meant 'pottytime' when sometimes it was 'playtime'.

He likes people... no, scratch that, he LOVES people and was quick to accept his foster mom. Thank goodness she didn't take it personally when she found out that he loves ALL PEOPLE. The trust he has in people is translating into him doing well with training. He has learned to check in while walking and not rush ahead, though perfection is hard to find. He also knows 'bring it' and 'leave it', which has served him well as he has seen rabbits, deer, wild turkeys, birds and some very interesting leaves that required inspection. Did he pick up something he shouldn't have? If you are quick enough, you can take it out of his mouth without worry!

What else does Danny love? Fetch, plush or squeaker toys, running, sniffing, snacking and getting belly scratches. The best part of Danny is that he is a giant love bug, and would love to be on the sofa or bed with you, soaking up every ounce of belly scratches you can give. He is still trying to convince his foster mom that she is missing out, and settles for getting tucked in at night in his dog bed until she changes her mind (yes, she is starting to waver!).

We could talk all day about Danny. Is he energetic? Yes. Is he adorable? Yes! Is he worth the effort? ABSOLUTELY. This is a dog who will steal a piece of your heart, if you can take the time to give him the love, time and training that he craves.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
