BIO:
Hi everyone, my name is Leigh, and my backstory is both sad and familiar. I was picked up as a stray in Texas and brought to an overcrowded local shelter, where I stood little chance of being adopted. What a happy day it was when FTF rescued me and placed me with a wonderful foster family. They are helping me acquaint myself with the comforts-and safety-of a home. It took no time for me to rediscover how much I love being near my people. I adore being petted, and when you stop, I'll stare up at you with my soulful brown eyes until you resume. While I bond very strongly to my people, I need time to build that bond so I need someone who will take things slow while I adjust to the sounds and movements of my new home. Indoors, when I'm not on "shadow duty," I enjoy destuffing plush toys, playing with my foster canine siblings, and snoozing in a soft, cozy dog bed. I'm fully potty trained and will pace/whine by the door when I need to go out. As for my crate, just toss in a treat, and I'll go right in. I'm also having fun learning new things, including fetch and some basic obedience skills (I've almost mastered sit, down, come, touch, and leave it). My foster mom says I'm very smart and highly treat-motivated, so I catch on quickly. Smart cookies like me are required to sign up for training classes with their adopters- I can't wait to see what we learn together! Outside, nothing is better than going on long walks-so much to see and smell! I generally have good leash manners, except when I encounter a squirrel or rabbit and pull in their direction. Although I sometimes bark when I see another dog approaching, I'm easily redirected. Finally, I'm getting the hang of jumping into the car. Make sure to buckle me in though, so that I don't jump out when you open the door. I'm so looking forward to meeting you!

Love and licks,
Leigh

If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
