Here's what the humans have to say about me:
When Awa first got here, she was very scared and intimidated by her new surroundings. Now, she is a playful sweetheart! It took a lot of patience and trust-building on our part to allow for her to open up, and it will be the same when she goes home for the first time. As long as you give her a safe space of her own and some time, she will open up just as she has with us! She is a social girl, so some kitty siblings are a plus!

Stray Animal Midway Shelter (SAMS) was incorporated in 2010 with our focus being spay neuter assistance. In Noovember of 2013 SAMS purchased property and now operates as a no-kill shelter in Peoria County. We work closely with local and surrounding county shelters and obtain healthy and adoptable pets that would otherwise be euthanized for lack of space. SAMS receives no funding from government, state, county or municiple entities and are funded solelyby fundraising and donations. You can help by volunteering, adopting and donating to our cause.
