My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pleasure to meet you! I'm Dolce, that's Italian for sweet, and I sure am! I'm 2 going on 10, and I skipped right over those typical puppy things like barking, growling, or chewing things.
I'm a low-key gal, not much for drama or antics. I found my current human on the side of a highway, where I was just roaming around. She has given me a safe space where I could heal from the things my former human didn't treat: heartworms, intestinal parasites, and a fungal infection. We have worked really hard this past year to get me healthy, and I'm finally feeling like my best self. My vet says I'm kind of a big deal, I really did overcome a lot.

Now that I'm healthy and feeling better, I'm curious about other dogs; I haven't been allowed to play because of those pesky heartworms, so I've been a bit lonely without playmates. My current human has a cat who I wish would be my friend, but you know how cats are .
My favorite thing is to go bye-bye on car rides; I politely sit in my seat watching the world go by; you won't catch me hanging out the window, or jumping around the backseat, no sir.

I like to go with my human to Lowe's and Home Depot; strangers love to stop and pet me while we're there because I'm so polite on my leash. I like to wait for permission to eat, I always politely sit at the door while my human puts on / takes off my leash. I know to focus on her when she says "watch me', sit, stay, down, shake, and I'm excited to learn new things, too! I didn't like it at first, but I will get in the bathtub now all by myself, and sit politely to let you trim my nails and brush my teeth. I'm okay in a crate if it makes you feel better, but I promise I don't need it. I definitely don't like the taste of shoes, and I don't make messes because let's be honest, who wants to live in a dirty house? Not me.

I don't like to brag, but I really am the sweetest girl you'll meet, and my human wishes she could keep me, but her HOA says I'm too big, My best life is in a low-key house with a yard I can safely relax in. I hope my new human isn't always gone at work like my current human, I'd love more time together. I'll even be okay with roommates, like your cat. We would need a play date if you have dogs to see how I'd do, since that would be a new situation for me. Thanks for letting me tell you a bit about myself. I look forward to meeting you!

Dolce is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.
