My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Strawberry
We will have to do my interview remotely, as I have been living with my foster mom since late January, and the interviewer lady only met me once before I moved out. My owner surrendered me to HSHC on January 11. He found me as a stray one year ago. The sad part was when I heard him say I was unwanted. I am a 3-year-old black-and-white female cat. You could call me petite since I weigh only 8 pounds. Yes, I am spayed and litterbox trained. My past life is a bit mysterious. I am missing my left eye, and my owner didn't explain why. When being examined by the medical staff, they said I was nervous and flighty. Hey, examinations tend to make you jumpy when you've lost an eye! Because I was not adjusting well to living in the shelter, I was sent to my foster home. I have made a best friend in the resident cat, and we hang out having fun at night. However, I am naturally shy in new situations, and it has taken me two months to work up the courage to make appearances during the day. My foster mom sees some real improvement in my social skills, but she believes I will need a patient, quiet home to reach my full potential. I'm crossing my paws in hopes of finding this home. 4-4-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
