My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

  • Adult (estimated between 2 and 7 years, exact age unknown)
  • Spayed female
  • Bonded with Candy and must be adopted together

I'm a lovely lady who comes with my best friend, Candy. We were found as strays, and although we're now safe, warm, and well-cared for, we're still learning to trust people and can be a bit shy. We're searching for an adopter who is willing to give us the time and patience we need to learn to trust and adjust to our new surroundings. Candy and I are inseparable, so we're looking for a home together. We'll thrive in a roomy enclosure, like an exercise pen, and you can find valuable information on rabbit care at wisconsinhrs.org. With a little time and patience, Candy and I are bound to become your new best friends, ready to fill your life with joy and companionship!

An adoption application must be completed. Home ownership verification or landlord/condo association approval is required. For dogs, if there are any dogs currently living in the home, a scheduled and supervised interaction with the prospective dog is required. Additional requirements may apply depending upon the individual animal.

Upon adoption, the adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to provide the animal with the care and medical treatment he or she needs throughout his or her life. More about this shelter

The HSJC is located in Jefferson, Wisconsin and is a small, privately run non-profit shelter that has been in operation since 1922. We recently celebrated our 90th year of caring for dogs, cats, birds and other small animals in need. Each year, close to 1,000 pets find sanctuary at our shelter. We put forth great effort to reunite owners with lost pets and to find good new homes for those who need a second chance. We do not impose a time limit on how long a healthy, adoptable animal may stay with us as they wait to be adopted.
