My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!

Meet Dolly, who is a very affectionate Shih Tzu mix. She is about 10 years old, weighs 9 pounds and is a lovely apricot color.“Dolly came into this rescue as a stray: she had been tossed out of a car in a garbage bag! We are grateful a kind dog owner witnessed this and was able to rescue Dolly immediately!”

. Dolly is house trained and currently sleeps on the same fostermom. She is very quiet and polite, yet is a fun loving dog who enjoys the company of her humans and other dogs. She does have a little separation anxiety, and she likes to follow her human around the house, so we are looking for a home where someone is home much of the day or where she will have a fellow dog companion in which to share the house. She calmly rides in the car, does well on a leash, and is easily able to navigate stairs.
We believe that Dolly suffered veterinary neglect in her previous life, because of the condition in which she was found and also because she had to have many teeth removed while in rescue. She will require another dental assessment in 6-12 months as a follow up to reevaluate her dental health. We are hopeful that now she is on a nutritious and well balanced diet that she will not require further immediate dental care.
Dolly is a sweet, affectionate, easy to care for little girl who will bring much joy and companionship to her new family. She deserves a loving forever home where she will be secure and not be discarded again.
Requirements for Dolly’s new family include:
• Someone who is home most of the day.
• Another small companion dog would be great, but Dolly would be fine as an only dog as long as she is not left alone for long periods of time.
• Dolly would do best with adults, but would be okay with a family with children over the age of 10.
• Family must reassess her dental health with a veterinarian within 6-12 months of adoption.
• A home within 30 miles of Edina, MN and commit to attending the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.
Dolly is current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has had an ultrasound to determine whether she has been spayed. The veterinarian did not see any evidence of ovaries (meaning that she HAS been spayed), but if she should go into heat after her adoption, the rescue will pay for her to be spayed at a designated rescue clinic.
Dolly’s adoption fee is $170.00 plus 14.49 sales tax for a total of $184.49. To meet Dolly, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at PETCO in Southtown Center In Bloomington.
