My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lyra is the most loving, loyal girl around! She craves human affection and wants to be right next to you- she will melt into your arms for pets! Lyra has charmed every person she’s met with her sweet disposition- she's friendly with men, women, and children. All the vet techs at her recent spay appointment fell in love with her! Lyra weighs 50 lbs (great medium size) and is about a year old. She’s also enjoyed meeting many different dogs large and small, and especially likes the ones that will play with her. Due to her exhuberance and athleticism we think a playmate her size or larger would be best if there are other dogs in the household. With that said, she's not hyper or super high energy- She loves to play wrestle and lead the back in games of chase, then cuddle up on the couch for a long nap. She  would also do just fine as an only dog soaking up all the human affection for herself. She will bark sometimes during play but is not overly vocal despite her husky genes! She is house trained, not destructive, knows “sit” and working on more commands. I would say medium/average shedder. :) She is a really smart girl and learns so quickly! She is such a gorgeous girl too- beautiful dappled brown and blue eyes, and  silky fur. She is goofy, sweet, and loves, loves toys! Her future family must have plenty of tennis balls and stuffed animals for her! :) She also enjoys snuggling up with her people, and while she’d love to sleep in bed with her humans she’s settled for sharing the couch in our bedroom with her foster siblings for now. She would make a great family dog. She can sometimes can be a friendly freight train when excited, so kids  5+  who can handle her size would  be ideal. Lyra loves other dogs and loves to play with them and gosh, she loves to be brushed! She’s sweet, affectionate & very smart. She’s housebroken & doesn’t chew on anything. She sleeps all night without a peep & is so happy to see you in the morning! She’s working on her leash manners and loading into the car. She is a water lover as well-  she hasn't figured out swimming but voluntarily wades around on the top step of our pool almost every day! Lyra raised 2 babies and was such an amazing momma- now she deserves a family who will spoil her!  She is just the sweetest!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................
