My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is a 15-week-old medium mixed breed puppy with beautiful green eyes. She weighs 8 pounds and is expected to mature around 20-25 pounds. While we are unsure of her exact mix, she definitely resembles a Patterdale Terriers. A DNA test would reveal her unique heritage.

Lucy is a smart and observant pup. She loves to engage in training sessions and interactive games, making her an excellent candidate for learning new tricks. She has a small scar on her face that adds to her character and charm.

This sweet girl is great with kids and gets along well with other dogs and cats. While she may take a moment to warm up to new people, once she does, she becomes their best friend. Lucy is playful and enjoys spending time with her toys, keeping herself entertained for hours.she totally enjoyed the snow storm !!

Lucy is great with potty training, both outside and on paper. She is also crate trained and travels well in the car. Leash walking is going well. Originally from Puerto Rico, Lucy is currently being fostered in New City, 10956, and is ready to find her forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please ensure that you have done your research regarding the financial and time commitments of raising a puppy. It is important to discuss this decision as a family, especially if this will be your first dog. Additionally, starting to research training methods would be beneficial. The adoption process will begin this week and can take anywhere from 1 to 15 days, so we appreciate your patience.

Please note that adoptions are limited to the Tristate area (NY, NJ, CT) and applicants must be at least 21 years old. If you already have an application on file, please email heavencanwaitny@gmail.com and request for your application to be considered for Lucy. If you have not yet completed an application, you can find the link here: https://heavencanwaitny.org/apps/

When submitting your application, please indicate if you have any preferences regarding the puppy or its sex. It is important to complete the application fully and set your expectations accordingly. We have received an overwhelming number of applications from wonderful families looking to adopt, so being flexible, patient, and kind to our volunteers is greatly appreciated.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email with a copy of the application. Please check your junk and spam folders as we frequently communicate via email. While we may not be able to speak to every applicant directly, we assure you that we will consider every application. Our coordinator will strive to make a great match between the puppy's personality and needs and the family's expectations, experience, and abilities. Therefore, please include any important information for the coordinator to know on your application. We are dedicated to finding the best forever homes for our pups.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of ordinary people who believe that animals, as living creatures, are entitled to a quality life, with respect and compassion. Since humans are responsible for having domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical obligation to care for those animals. We want to instill in our community an awareness of all the animals whose lives we share, to promote and encourage responsible pet ownership and to stress the importance of spaying/neutering all companion animals.
Our Mission is to enrich the lives of our animal friends who may be without shelter, food, care or love. We commit to help these needy, regardless of age, natural beauty or condition. Northstar has provided private rescue service for injured, abandoned, and stray animals. If their owners cannot be found, we immunize, spay/neuter, provide heartworm test,(leukemia/aids test for cats and kitten), and provide medical treatment, food and shelter as needed until such time that the animals are ready for adoption.
Our group functions by fostering animals in our homes. By providing a home environment, we can learn about our fosters and hopefully better match each of them with a good family. We work to make the transition from foster home to permanent home as smooth as possible for both the foster animal and the adoptor. If you would like to join us in this effort please contact us.
