Hi I'm Sophie! My pair bonded brother Scratchy (A55037102) and I were brought into the SPCA of Texas from a community shelter so we can find a loving home together. We are best friends and I depend on him to help me bond with people and lean on him for emotional support as he is the more confident of the two of us. The key to being my friend is to be his first. I am much more comfortable once he is!
I am definitely a little bit of a shy gal and learning that people aren't so scary, but you can gain my trust by going slow with me and treats are a great way to make friends with me too.
We need a quiet and calm home where we can take our time to learn how to live alongside people. Our new family should be very cat savvy and have an understanding of cat body language and behavior.
Cats? Since we are a pair, we would like to be the stars of the show, but we can coexist with other cats.
Because I am still learning about humans, small ones may be too much for me. I would most likely do best in a home with children over the age of 15.

To adopt a pet from the SPCA of Texas, we not only help make love connections, but we then walk you through an adoption process that is geared to ensuring you and the pet are a great match. There is a contract to sign at the end of the process. Adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies 0-6 months: $150
Adult dogs 6 months or older: $75

The adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccinations (which can include Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza and Bordetella), spay/neuter surgery, deworming treatment, initial heartworm preventative, a rabies tag, Free health examination within fourteen days of the adoption thanks to our partnership with VCA Animal Hospitals, a leash and a microchip. Dogs over 6 months of age are also given a heartworm test (SNAP occult). Free week of training through Good Pup.
Kittens: $150
Cats: $75

Also included is a free week of training through Good Pup.
