Mamie Chat aime les câlins, mais n`aime pas du tout être prise dans les bras et ne supporte pas qu`on lui touche les pattes.
Il est impératif de faire sa litière tous les jours et qu’elle soit dans un endroit facilement accessible pour éviter les besoins hors litière.
Elle a besoin d’un coin tranquille à elle, parce qu’elle dort beaucoup. Elle n’aime pas être dérangée pendant ses moments de sommeil, mais adore et recherche la compagnie humaine. Elle est capable de vivre avec d’autres animaux pour autant qu’ils soient très calmes et la laissent tranquille : elle n’est pas intéressée par les interactions avec les autres chats, ni les chiens. Ses nombreuses sessions de sieste sont entrecoupées de câlins et d’explorations en tout genre : elle adore grimper mais a des difficultés à descendre. Elle a une voix et n`hésite pas à s`en servir pour demander de l`attention ou de la nourriture. Elle est très attachante, recherche toujours les endroits qui allient confort et proximité des humains et elle demande de l`attention avec des petits coups de patte.
Mamie Chat loves to be cuddled, but doesn`t like to be held and can`t bear to have her paws touched.
It`s imperative that her litter box is cleaned every day, and that it`s in an easily accessible place to prevent her needing to relieve herself outside the litter box.
She needs her own quiet corner, as she sleeps a lot. She doesn`t like to be disturbed when she sleeps, but loves and seeks human company. She is able to live with other animals as long as they are very calm and leave her alone: she is not interested in interactions with other cats, nor dogs. Her many nap sessions are interspersed with cuddles and explorations of all kinds: she loves to climb, but has difficulty getting down. She has a voice and doesn`t hesitate to use it to ask for attention or food. She`s very endearing, always looking for places that combine comfort and proximity to humans, and asks for attention with little paw strokes.

Most of the animals available for adoption are at our shelter, on Jean-Talon Street in Montréal. Please come meet them during our opening hours. Note the wait time can be several hours on Saturdays and Sundays so, if you can, come by on a weekday instead!

Founded in Montreal in 1869, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (now known simply as the Montreal SPCA) was the first animal-welfare organization in Canada. It is not known under whose influence the society was formed, but its history acknowledges assistance from animal-welfare societies in France, England and the United States. In its early years, the SPCA concentrated primarily on improving the treatment of work horses, which were used all across the island of Montreal. The SPCA later began working on additional issues, such as humane dog control, cock-fighting and the killing of wild birds. The SPCA has come a long way since its beginnings: today, it is the largest animal-protection organization in Quebec, speaking on behalf of animals wherever there is ignorance, cruelty, exploitation or neglect.
