What to say about this handsome boy? Akiro is an absolute sweetheart with a heart of gold, but he is fearful of new situations and it can take him awhile to warm up to new environments and people. When he warms up, he warms up hard and he`s a big lovebug to the people he knows! Akiro loves life, and he makes that very clear on his daily strolls. It will be important for his new owner to follow up with a force free trainer so Akiro can work on adjusting to new environments. He is looking for a quiet adult only home as the only dog outside of the city!

Akiro is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped, and seen by our vet team.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston is committed to matching adoptable animals with a permanent home. Our conversation-based, application-free adoption process is designed so that the needs of both the animal and the adopter are understood and compatible with one another. We require the following as part of the adoption process:
* Adopter must be 18 years of age or older
* A current government-issued ID (no student IDs)
* Have a conversation with an ARL adoption counselor
* A photo of the cage your pet will live in, if adopting a small animal or bird

Situated 10 miles southwest of Boston on the beautiful grounds of the former summer sanctuary for the city’s working horses, ARL’s newly remodeled shelter in Dedham, Massachusetts is just a glimpse into ARL’s bold future. The new modern shelter design allows us to provide even more animals with high-quality direct animal care that meets best-practice standards in animal welfare.

The 27-acre property serves as ARL’s main livestock center and is home to Pine Ridge Pet Cemetery, the oldest continuously operated pet cemetery by a humane society in the United States.
