My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Felix is an estimated 1-year-old, 90 lb male Great Pyrenees puppy who joined us from Templeton, California, where he has lived the last two months on a ranch. He was found in November in rough shape, emaciated, and with nubs for nails after having presumably been hit and dragged by a car. Miraculously, he suffered no horrible injuries and was taken in by ranchers who have cared for him for the last two months. They have found he is social and friendly with all people including kids, bouncy and goofy with other animals, and on the submissive side of the spectrum. True to his breed, he has no prey drive and is good with livestock including chickens; however, when put in with the lambs he chose to escape to be with people so he may not have good working dog potential. He has shown he'd rather be a family dog so we are going to do our best to make that happen for him!

Foster Updates: Felix has been such a joy to have in our home!  I don’t think he has ever met a stranger and has a full-body wag when he meets new people or dogs.  He is friendly with everyone and truly seems to enjoy having his mattes brushed out.  Felix is so tolerant of other dogs and loves to play, big or small.  He is A+ with kids, with the exception of his overall size and toddler-level tail, which occasionally results in a knocked-over kid!   We are working on his leash manners; he is a mighty puller on a short lead but surprisingly responsive on a long line. Felix is quite stubborn and tends to have selective hearing, but does know his basic commands…when he’s feeling motivated. He is the most gentle treat-taker! True to his guardian breed he is quite an alert barker, especially when outside in the evening, and will climb a 4ft fence with a wood rail if left alone in the yard, so he will need a very secure yard and/or attention to his escape artist tendencies.  Felix is house-trained and aside  from some initial marking, he has never had an accident in the house. We’d love to see Felix in a forever home with another dog(s) and/or kids.  Given his size, breed, and vocal nature, we are only considering single-family homes with large securely fenced yards, without close neighbors outside of the city for Felix.

Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes age-appropriate neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.
