My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Description
Sushi is a young female Akita with a sweet disposition. She listens well and is well behaved. She is happy to walk or play with you but settles quickly and is very patient.

Personality
Sushi is a joy. She is low maintenance, even-keeled, friendly, well- socialized and happy go lucky. Sushi knows some basic commands and is happy to show off her good manners. She does well on walks, and is friendly with people, or nonchalant and indifferent. She is polite and will sit and wait for feeding time, or for walking time, and goes into a kennel at night to sleep. She is well behaved at the vet and has been vaccinated, dewormed, chipped, and is heart worm negative. Sushi also does really well with her finder/ foster home’s young kids and cats.

Background
Sushi was found in Cypress, near hwy 6 and I10 in Houston in Dec 2023. She walked right up to her finders when they were out in their driveway as if to ask for help. She followed them willingly to the backyard and drank for a while, then hopped into their car for a ride to the vet to see if she was chipped. She was not microchipped and had no tags. The finders searched for an owner and listed her on lost/found sites and neighborhood pages but no one claimed her. Other rescue organizations told them to make an appt with the city shelter, but they wanted to make sure she went to a good home and wasn’t at risk of euthanization, so they contacted GNAR.
