My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nyssa showed up on a man’s front porch in pitiful shape with mange, eyes sealed together with drainage, but as he stated she was a total sweet heart leaning against him and wagging her tail nonstop.
He was getting married the next day and leaving for weeks so he asked for help. My husband and I have been fostering this gem of a girl and with treatment and tons of love, she has blossomed into quite a beauty. Her skin is almost clear and those beautiful eyes are discovering what a wonderful world there is outside. This sweetheart has personality plus. She adores living is the best way to describe her. She is great in her crate and will start talking to us in dog language when she needs to go out. We are working on house manners and normal dog training. There are no words to truly convey the sweetness of this dog. She is so appreciative of love and care. She will make an incredible family member. Loves kids, dogs and any attention given. She is awesome in the car! It breaks my heart that the first 12 months of her life were so miserable but she will be 💯 very soon and has a great future and hope! You will not be disappointed if you adopt. She is amazing!

Nyssa is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

More about this rescue

CPR was formed in 2004 to assist unwanted pups and dogs with finding a new home. We rescue our pups from high kill shelters in TN and MS. Without the dedication of the staff and volunteers of these shelters and without the assistance of CPR, the pups posted on our website would not be rescued.
We also assist families with unwanted litters of pups by placing the pups and spaying their mommy dog to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. When funds are available, we spay/neuter personally owned pets when asked for assistnce.
We rescue and rehome 200+ pups and dogs each month. We accomplish this task with the help of an awesome hard working and dedicated staff and volunteer base. Also helping us to accomplish what seems at times to be a thankless and overwhelming job is our pure and selfless love of dogs! We truly believe that rescue + rehoming = true love. <3
