My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT SON SON
Son Son came to HAP when his owners became homeless, making the selfless decision to give him a fresh start. Despite being in the shelter, this happy-go-lucky boy is having a blast making new friends! Son Son has an large scar on his forehead, from being attacked as a young puppy. While a traumatic experience like that can often alter a dogs behavior, Son Son recovered amazingly and has been doing fantastic with other dogs! He quickly rose to fame among our staff and volunteers for his energetic, lovable personality. Although he hasn't been with us long, he is a superstar in our Doggy Day Out program. Check out what our volunteers have to say about him:

"Son Son is the best, he is so easy-going. He's happy to go hiking, happy to just relax and people-watch/dog-watch and more than happy to climb in your lap for snuggles or kisses. He was even good while I jumped on my computer for a bit to do a little work. Son Son is so gentle taking food out of your hand. He was so well-behaved. Whoever adopts Son Son will be getting a great dog, I didn't see any negatives at all!" - Karen

"I had a lovely day with Son Son. He's such a happy and loving pup! Son Son was so happy and excited to go for his walks. He loves people, and he had a great time greeting them on the way. Son Son was very well behaved in the house. He sits for treats and takes them so gently. Son Son enjoyed playing for a bit, but mostly wanted to sit on my lap, get petted and give kisses. He's a very affectionate pup. He ended the day with a nap, sprawling across my lap. Son Son is a lovely dog, and I hope he gets a new home soon!" - Zoe

"Had the joy of taking Mr. Son Son! He was super good on the leash and could care less about anything going on around him; bikes, cars, other dogs, birds, squirrels, you name it! Plus he's a good car rider, after a minute or so he clams down and lays on the back seat. He definitely has a lot of energy but after a few minutes walking he settles down nicely and walks well on the leash. Every time we stopped for a drink or to sit in the shade he wanted to jump up on my lap of a hug. He would make the perfect pup for any family!" - Lilly

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
