My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHE BOUNCES LIKE TIGGER! Getrude is working on socialization! She deserves the chance for socialization in a loving home that understands she startles with noises and needs very consistent routine. No signs of aggression! She is working on playing with toys and is a shy lovely girl with a gentle spirit. According to her foster home, "she want to please humans and dogs-but her insecurity/nervousness can make her movements jerky." Getrude could go to a home with an older, calmer dog to follow. Can't go to a home with another fearful/anxious dog. She loves peanut butter kongs, soft toys, and wants to play with her foster dogs! She is being housetrained, and is receiving antianxiety meds, and priloscec otc.
Will need crate training. Will need extra time and repetitions to fully incorporate new commands. Experienced adopter needed who understands a dog with anxiety ; needs fenced in yard. Knows basic commands such as Sit, Paw, Quiet, No, Wait, Nice, Stay

patience and routine oriented - willing to continue to work with a DVM behaviorist. She has 2 speeds: really fast or dead stop! :)

This amount helps offset the expense of long distance calls made to both process your application and discuss available danes for adoption.

After submitting this application, please pay the $25 application fee via Paypal to greatdanerescuemi@gmail.com

You may also send a check to:

GDRI
P.O. Box 5543

The next step will be checking your references and arranging your home visit. Once your references are checked, our Adoption Coordinator will give you a call to conduct an interview. We will then try to match you up with the right dog. This includes giving you the name/number of the foster home so you can talk with them directly and make arrangements to see your potential new friend.
